Cambridgeshire is much more than just its university city, and the area is steeped in history. This page looks at the resources and videos to access the past of this world-famous county.

Which Part Of England Is Cambridgeshire In?

Cambridgeshire is in a region called the East of England. It sits between the South East region (and Home Counties around London), and the southeast border of the Midlands.

The East of England is one of nine regions in England and includes the ceremonial counties of Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk, and Suffolk.

Is Cambridge the same as Cambridgeshire? Cambridge is a city located in the county of Cambridgeshire, but the county also contains two other cities and hundreds of other communities.

What Is Cambridgeshire Famous For?

Cambridgeshire is famous for its historic university city of Cambridge, the Norman Cathedral at Ely, horse racing at Newmarket, and the coastal plain of The Fens.

Much of the county is agricultural, though Peterborough is a thriving city with good transport links to London. Cambridgeshire’s university attracts outstanding creatives, entrepreneurs and academics, with some creating businesses which bolster the area’s reputation for its intelligence and technology-led business sector.
