Bedford Italian Festival 2009
On Sunday 13th September 2009, the first Bedford Italian Festival was held in Harpur Square and St Paul’s Square.
More than 5,000 people attended the one day event.
Local restaurants and suppliers ran stalls offering Italian speciality foods. Entertainment included an Italian car display, Italian music, and the unveiling of the Italian statue.
The Italian statue celebrated the arrival of Bedford’s Italian immigrants in the 1950s. After the event was over, the statue was transferred to the Greyfriars roundabout.
