Old Images of Newcastle Great Park

old photos and films with Local History Videos .com

The commercial, housing and parkland development of Great Park, at the northern outskirts of Newcastle upon Tyne, began life at the start of the twenty first century.

So there aren’t old photos and vintage footage of the old days, but some people have tried to capture the sights, sounds and struggles of a new settlement encroaching on disappearing countryside.

Sage at Great Park

As part of a £55 million project, Newcastle’s ID Partnership designed the international headquarters of Sage, located on the software company’s 11.7 hectares/28.9 acres of land in the Great Park.

The 212,865 sq ft office complex, split into six distinct blocks adjoined by internal full height atriums, was built in 2004. Employees could access the café, restaurant with seating area, gym and leisure facilities.

In 2021, Sage announced that it was selling the Great Park location, and moving to two neighbouring buildings at Cobalt Business Park in North Tyneside.
