Leicestershire: Local History Resources

Leicestershire England UK local history

The landlocked county of Leicestershire, found in the regions called the English Midlands, is an urban county famous for its food products. Stilton cheese, Red Leicester cheese, and Melton Mowbray pork pies are found in almost every supermarket in England because they are so popular.

But the county also boasts a wealth of historic buildings and sites that entertain and educate their visitors.

What counties border Leicestershire?

Leicestershire borders the counties of Nottinghamshire to the north, Lincolnshire to the north-east, Rutland to the east, Northamptonshire to the south-east, Warwickshire to the south-west, Staffordshire to the west, and Derbyshire to the north-west.
