Warwickshire: Local History Resources

Stratford Warwickshire England UK local history family history

Warwickshire is a county located in the West Midlands region of England. It’s famous for being the birthplace of William Shakespeare, and for the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon.

Cities And Towns Of Warwickshire

There are no cities in Warwickshire, although some of the county’s historic records are kept in the West Midlands county cities of Birmingham and Coventry.

Warwickshire is not in Birmingham because Warwickshire is a county and Birmingham is a city in the county of West Midlands. However, both are in a region of England called the West Midlands, which contains the counties of West Midlands, Warwickshire, Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, and Worcestershire.

The towns of Warwickshire, by size of population, include

  • Nuneaton
  • Rugby
  • Royal Leamington Spa
