Salford V Batley in 1901

In the famous Mitchell and Kenyon collection – which was destined for a skip when two workmen decided to get the old reels valued – we get to see a football match held between the Salford and Batley teams on 2 November 1901.

The Batley team wears the white tops. They were one of the leading clubs of the day. They won the match 14-6.

Royal Tour in 1954

In 1954, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh visited Dewsbury, Batley, Morley & Bradford. At Batley Town Hall, the Royal visitors were presented with a box of blankets, and shown an industrial display by the Mayor.
