In the 1960s, Thurrock Arts Council held a presentation of Rafael de Sevilla’s Spanish Fiesta. The flamenco performances started at 7.15pm on Saturday, 20th February.

1970s Quarry Development
In the 1970s, John Stapleton reported on the proposals to convert cement quarries into land for housing, shops and parks.
It was the start of the movement we now know as ‘brownfield development’, and features an interview with Britain’s first Wasteland Reclamation Officer.
A local authority officer and a Conservative councillor also speak about their hopes and fears over this development project.
