Franklin, New Hampshire, has a rich history that dates back to the early 18th century. Originally part of the towns of Salisbury, Andover, Sanbornton and Northfield, the area that would become Franklin was settled around 1764. The town was officially incorporated in 1828 and was named in honor of Benjamin Franklin, reflecting the spirit of the time and the country’s revolutionary roots.

In the early years, Franklin was primarily an agricultural community, but it began to grow significantly with the rise of industry in the 19th century. The strategic location along the Pemigewasset River made it an ideal spot for mills and manufacturing. The construction of the railroad in the 1840s further fueled its development, allowing for easier transportation of goods and people.
